2021
In what we’re calling the CURTAIN UP! LIGHT THE LIGHTS! EDITION, the 2021 Edition features 129 core cards (75 full edition, 54 rare). The primary cards feature actors, writers, directors, choreographers, and shows as usual; AND we once again have a special nine-card feature but in the full-card roster this edition. In the Rare roster, we add to our Ensemblist, Golden Age, If It Only Even Runs A Minute, Off-Broadway, and Broadway Up Close Theater series. And we are so happy to be bringing back our Giving Back program this edition after being on hold in 2020. We continue to celebrate the diversity of Broadway and work toward better representation; and we also hope you have fun collecting, learning, and celebrating with us!
Our nine-card series celebrates the re-opening of our beloved Broadway with illustrations of some of our favorite Broadway opening numbers. Collecting all nine cards will create a vibrant collage on the back, bringing together the nine individual illustrations.
In our Rare roster, we once again celebrate an array of design and music legends as well as some movers and shapers in the Broadway firmament. There’s a little NY theatre history, a milestone for a legendary Sondheim show, and a couple of big Hollywood takes on Broadway shows. In addition to our Ensemblist, Golden Age, If It Only Even Runs A Minute, Off-Broadway, and Broadway Up Close Theaters series, we introduce a fun little series featuring some illustrated inspirational Broadway lyrics Squigs started creating just before the pandemic shutdown and continued into those early scary months.
Once again, we have TWO foil embossed cards and SIX lenticular (tilt) cards. The foils feature a new ghost light image and the work of Black Theatre United. The lenticulars show the Anitas of West Side Story (Broadway and film), Squigs’ Hearts to Half short film, Liza Minnelli, Olga Merediz in “Paciencia Y Fe” in the In the Heights film, Rob McClure’s “Poco a Poco” video featuring Kalena Bovell, and Ratatouille: The TikTok musical. And tucked away in packs are 40 Squigs pencil sketch cards.
We’re thrilled to bring back our Giving Back program this year, and we’ve got such a wonderful lineup: Ashley Park highlights Broadway Advocacy Coalition; Eva Noblezada and Reeve Carney shine a light on Breast Cancer Research Foundation; Jennifer Simard and Christopher Sieber raise up Darkness Rising; and Rob McClure celebrates Spread Ari’s Light.
